MFO and Sharm El Sheikh in the Sinai Desert
The MFO South Camp photos below are taken in March and April 1982. Initially there was no restaurant, we had our meals in the tents near the shore. With such climate and views dining outside was bliss 😀
Later on a restaurant was built in the MFO South Camp as well as sports facilities. Over the years the MFO South Camp has become more important and nowadays it’s the headquarters for the MFO in the Sinai. The North Camp has been downgraded as a forward base.
The mission of the MFO is to supervise the implementation of the security provisions of the Egyptian-Israeli Treaty of Peace and employ best efforts to prevent any violation of its terms. Read more….
